![]() I started riding motorbikes at the age of eight at Peak Dale motorbike club in Buxton on a Honda QR 50. People kept telling my Dad to get me into Schoolboy motocross, so by the age of ten I was racing Motocross. I had a very successful Schoolboy motocross career winning many awards, Club championships and centre championships. I also had great success with wins in Schoolboy Nationals and made many British finals. My best ACU Schoolboy final result was third overall in the Expert 125 class. I went into adult motocross at 17 and also had a lot of success. During my adult motocross career I competed mainly in the 125 British championship class and towards the end of my career the British four Stroke class. I also had success racing abroad, visiting the USA, France, Holland and Belgium. I loved jumping and raced many supercrosses including indoor, making many Pro finals with good results. During the middle of 2001 I got a little burnt out with Motocross. I was having a lot of bad luck and also finding it hard to keep competing with the more supported riders as a Privateer. I was ready for a new challenge and after years of persuasion from the Allot family decided to give Speedway a go. It was a culture shock at first especially having no brakes, but I started to love it. I had a good first season in 2002 with Buxton, winning the KO cup, but I broke my leg in early 2003 while ice racing in America and had to sit out the full season. I will make my return for the Buxton Hitmen during the 2004 season. |
